Just a suggestion - Have an administrator go to "Options" and under there click on "Reading". The second main topic down is "Blog Pages". In the box following "Show at most:" change the number to something higher - at least 15. I think Couer d'Alene Reservation uses 20, we use 25. Almost no-one click "previous" when scrolling down your page to see what is posted. It would improve your opportunities to have someone stop, read, and become interested enough to return to view the blog again. This is one of the few easy fixes for the blog site.

Joanne,
Nice job! I always appreciate your writing and you did such a good job on this.

Last night at the Entrepreneurial Workshop offered by Horizons in Plummer, I learned a lot and got even a greater vision for what could happen with people who are interested in staying in their small communities in spite of the "lack of work." People who are willing to take a big step and "make it happen" --that is create work by starting their own small business--can make a huge difference in our area. With the resources the Idaho Small Business Development Center has to offer, there is a good chance of success, and, as the presenter said, when you start creating job opportunities in your community there is something there for your children to stay for rather than them wanting to travel off to Seattle or somewhere to find work.

It IS exciting!

Thanks for the message. Who is Sheldon? I didn't know there was a blog guru. I have set up a blogging class that is for beginners in Emida at the Drifters Cafe for April 10 from 6-9 pm. I borrowed laptop computers from the District 1 "Traveling Computer Lab" that I didn't know existed. I contacted the local provider of satellite connection to the Internet and he has offered to come out free to hook us all up to the Internet through the owner's satellite system. It should be a nice evening and I hope to learn plenty!

Welcome to the world of blogging. I have been a terrible thorn in the side of Horizons about blogging. My goal has only been to be a better blogger. I did take the class on blogging at the same time as my much more computer knowledgeable teen daughter, and there are yet some things even she has been unable to do with the blog we should be able to do.

I personally am a Sheldon denier. I do not think our blog guru really exists. But I am hopeful that the folks in charge will see the common plea for more training and take us seriously. You did a wonderful job of listing the roses and thorns of blogging. Keep up the good work.

Nice job! We had our first official service project today. We did a sidewalk sweep in Juliaetta. The firemen are having a breakfast and the community a craft fair on the 30th, so we thought we could do our part to help spruce up the town.

Just wondering if Horizons has passed on to your blogging administrators what I learned on my own about blogging. Contributors, authors, and editors have much cooler tools for writing posts than administrators have. There are options of color, format, etc. that administrators don't have. You get the option of typing in visual or code. I just used another email addy and went through the process of signing up to be a blogger again, approving myself as an editor. Blogging is much easier now.

Kendrick-Juliaetta and the 7 Ridges is also working on a newsletter for our community. We would love to recieve your emailed version. At this time we are doing a bulk mailing, but are interested in being able to email it, especially to those who do business in KJ and the 7R but don't live within the mailing area. Hope your newletter gets a good response.
